Christmas Dog

I put you in
a suit of Elf
and asked you not
to be yourself
No wag, no bark, no jump or drool
for just the season of the yule

So many pictures
I did take
and promised you
both shrimp & steak

You stood there mute
so mad at me
that I was worried
you would pee
and make a mess
for me to clean
while gloating like
some beauty queen.

No matter how
I begged or teased
you gave no damn
if I was pleased.

When at last
I was done
I let you loose
to have some fun
you took your chewie
jumped on the bed
made a face
and rolled back your head

But that’s okay
cuz you’ll forget
about the suit
and the hat.

And next Christmas
when you’re not looking
a new yule suit
I’ll be hooking
about your belly
so big & fat
and you’ll be wishing
you were the cat.

    LOL I love it!

Your poor dog, but she (he?) looks like a great sport! So why don’t you dress up the cat as well?? He could be santa! LMAO!

oh she is a good sport, poor dear - seems no matter what i do to lil boops she goes along with it (albeit grudgingly sometimes). my cat? allow me to dress her in a santa suit - i would not have enough money to pay for the medical attention i would need should i ever try such a stunt. oh no, miss cat will have none of that. ;) sarah

haha, thats funny and as a dog and cat owner, I can relate. my cat just sits there and wonders how the dog can be sooo stupid to let dress ups happen to her.
Have a picture of our dog in a Santa hat. Guess we should get together and do a ‘our poor pets’ post :-) .

i think a joint post would be great fun! let me know when and if.

So funny and true! I have an almost-5-year-old cat who I’ve tried to dress in a shirt only twice. Only a couple of scratches ;) but he wouldn’t sit still for the camera. He just slunk away and started rolling on the floor, trying to kick it off. Poor guy, he puts up with so much from me, but it’s just the two of us, so I guess he has no choice. ;)
lol Tolana! the things we do to our pets - and yet they love us anyway. that’s loyalty, don’t you think?
