I Gave My Love…
I gave my love
a Christmas tree
and trimmed it up
real nice.
In hopes that
he would see
that I deserved
the ice.
I strung it full
with tiny lights
and ornaments
of gold.
So he would really
set his sights
on something
rather bold.
Beneath the tree
I stacked the gifts
to make his eyes
go wide.
To raise his heart
to the cliffs
so his joy
could not hide.
He held me close
and kissed my cheek
and grinned
so very big.
But when I looked
and took a peek
I saw that he
was just a pig!
No engagement ring
did I find
beneath my
glorious tree
But rather just
some non-stick pots
which I threw at he….
Who broke my heart
and made me sad
on this Christmas day -
by giving me a gift
so bad
that I will make
him pay!
Merry Christmas! Sarah

Merry Christmas Sarah! I really hope you don’t get pots under your Christmas tree unless you’re a Chef!
thank you, Catherine - and the same to you. incidentally i do fancy myself to be quite a chef but i was looking to write something funny and the pots i thought struck a chord.

I’m thinking I might get either a microwave or an engagement ring from him. And, although I will want to throw the microwave at him if that’s what I end up getting… I will restrain myself. I do love him, after all…
A very happy Christmas to you!
Love,
D
i surely hope it’s not a microwave, i’m afraid you might hurt yourself trying to throw something that big. whatever you find under the tree tomorrow i’m sure it is something given with love.
merry christmas dear friend.
love,
sarah

Merry merry Christmas dear Sarah!

Misery loves company. The first rule of relationships. You are well on the way to enlightenment.
or i just don’t care anymore. just in case you didn’t notice, this is not based on any actual event in my life. i was just making a funny.

Is it bad that I laughed out loud to this??! I think we can all relate to the BAD present given by someone who supposedly cared about us…!!!

no, not bad at all. it was just a little christmas satire.
i mean hasn’t every woman wanted something sparkly and ended up with something practical instead, at least once in her life? that you laughed out loud i think bears out that my theory was at least partly right.

Really funny! This should be printed and displayed in every jewelry store. And maybe Bed, Bath and Beyond, too. A warning to the foolish male shoppers.
what a funny idea! i could become a motivational speaker for the lovelorn. i’m glad it made you laugh - i giggled the whole time i was writing it.
happy new year, natural.
