Same Moon

If we look at the moon
in the same sky
on the same night
Are we side by side?

If my spirit hears you
and my soul feels you
Are you here?
Am I there?

If we are soul mates
will we find each other
and discover
We were never lost?

In Japan, people venerate the full moons, and they believe they can see a rabbit pounding rice there!
I have always felt something special about the moon (s). Does it really influence us?
    Cheers,
    Robert-Gilles

i’m sure there are actually physical ways in which the moon influence us, the pull of the tides, etc. but i believe spiritually the moon influences us more - perhaps it is the age old light in the sky or light in the darkness? i don’t know but i do think so, yes.

    Nice!
This is one of those poems of yours that make it feel as if I had written it (not the poem but what lies within in).

thanks spaz - sometimes we do circle the same orbit, yes?

You have this gift for articulating things I’ve felt and never said out loud.

no kinder words could ever be said to a writer. thank you so much natural.

Sarah Flanigan :) This reminds me of the thoughts of adolescence. Perhaps a view from the innocent. I don’t really believe in soulmates in the way that the majority seems to- I’ve often thought of it as dangerous to put that much pressure on a relationship, or another person. That being said, I don’t want to take away from the poem. It’s very good. Very sweet, light, and hopeful. Well done, I will give you three and a half stars out of four.

it’s funny, kim. this for me, was not really about soul mates but more about souls and the kindredness of same. for me, the point was if we are in that same space spiritually so to speak aren’t we there together, regardless of the physical distance? and i agree putting that soul mate pressure into a relationship can be harmful. personally, i believe we have many soul mates and they aren’t just romantic soul mates, they are friend and comrade soul mates also. another way of saying kindred spirit i guess.

thanks for your view and insight, as always, i appreciate it very much.

Grandmother moon has the wonderful gift of bringing souls together, whether they be lovers or friends, near or far. It is what she has always done best.

    Jennifer

jennifer, i have never heard of grandmother moon. what is it? or who is it? intriguing.

Under the light of the moon all things seem possible.

indeed they do and are, i suspect.

    I love this Sarah…similar to something I wrote a few years back….

maybe we should do an ‘ode to the moon’ co-post or something. could be fun. i’m also considering setting up a round robin. would you be interested?
    sarah

ps: anyone else who might be interested in the round robin, let me know too.

    Very nice, Sarah. Very nice!
I’ve always loved the moon; but I also love the moonless sky when the stars are brighter.

thanks lolly. and i love a starry night too when the sky is like ink and the stars are on fire - takes your breath away, doesn’t it?
