Celebrate

Like a cat
I nap in the sun.
And put aside
my problems
for opening on another day.
Spring is here
and I
celebrate.

I be seeing cats everywhere lately! Must be something in the air…but they are indeed wonderful creatures who seem to have the art of living life in the best possible way..I think perhaps we could all learn from them a little, as you’ve clearly proven with this nice little piece.
    Have a good one Sarah

thanks kel. i do envy the sleeping cat in the sun - that is the truth. and how do they twist their bodies up in little knots like that?

i’ll bet you are - you’ve been having some very cold snaps this year, eh?

    You have Spring already??????
I walk under a set of trees that greet me every morning on my way to work. Strangely enough this morning I had this split second notion that they are getting ready to awaken from the winter even though there’s still snow on the ground. Interesting that you mention Spring today as well. I guess -2 celcius seems more springy then -30 :-) .

lol. well, we did the day i wrote it. today seems more like winter. it’s been a very confusing winter out here. but i guess it was just one of those perfect moments, sitting at an outside cafe eating lunch and feeling the warmth of the sun and the smells of new grass and flowers, birds singing, people in shorts and sunglasses. fleeting though it was - it was

    Cats are clever
    Dogs are faithful
    Hamsters are busy
    Turtles are silent
    Humans are needy

    Cheers,
    Robert-Gilles

    lovely! bonjour!

It’s so odd, yesterday it was beautiful here. I lay outside in the hammock and thought to myself:
“Chicken soup for the soul? Meh, who needs it?”
All one really needs is a day of sunshine and a hammock. Life couldn’t be better.

agreed - and of course, i’ve not seen a drop of sunshine since i wrote this little ditty. mother nature can sometimes be the worst practical joker.

I have two lazy furballs who keep me perpetually jealous. How do they stay so contented??? I envy you your lovely nap in the sun, too. One of the best things I canthink of.

i believe cats are so contented because they sleep eighteen hours out of each day, plus are petted, pampered, fed and talked to sweetly. i might feel real contentment with such treatment myself. ;) sarah

I envy it being Spring there!

Write one about a stinking, humid hot, drought ridden summer…
    damn these Australian seasons ;)
your wish is my command. give me but a few minutes.

Sarah, it snowed today, I can’t remember seing flakes as big as these ones. In that there’s a mix of fog as well as an actual thunderstorm. It’s so creepy it’s cool……
Today, Spring seems far away again :-) .

it sounds incredibly cool, Spaz. spring must be hiding in water because my spring turned to a wierd misty, rain storm gray fog monsterous cloud day too. i wish i had a camera that would have captured it though. did you get any pictures? sounds utterly inspiring.

    Celebro
    Como un gato
    duermo bajo el sol.
    Y dejo de lado
    mis problemas
    para develar otro día más.
    La primavera está aquí
    y yo
    celebro.
Beautiful in any language, congratulations Sarah

Ciao! lol - i wasn’t sure what you did at first, but i believe you translated my poem into italian, si? grazzia!

It’s Spanish Sarah, and I love it because it sounds really beautiful in both languages.
I’ll keep track of your writings, I’ve just discovered your blog.
    Regards

hi again - well i suppose at least i get a small point for realizing it was a latin language, yes? it did sound beautiful and exotic in another language. thank you for adding that layer to it.

i’d love to have you come back and read more. you’re welcome any time. have you a blog, as well?

The Spanish was done and lovely so I had to try it out in German:
    Wie eine Katze
    In der Sonne schlummernd.
    Und lege meine Probleme
    Beiseite für einen anderen Tag.
    Der Frühling ist da
    Und ich
    Feiere.
And since it’s easy from here, this is what Swiss German with Zurich dialekt looks like (as there is no real written Swiss German anymore):
    Wien ae Chatz
    I de Sunne schlummeret.
    Und ich leggae mini Problem
    Ufzite für aen andre Tag.
    Dae Früehlig isch da
    Und ich
    Fiire.
Have to say, the English and Spanish do much more for me….but then I never really enjoyed German language in poetry, for me it was always better for organising things ;-) .

okay this is fun. anyone care to try mandarin? ;) sarah

Actually in the first poem, do me a favour and take the ‘lasse’-word out of the third line for me…… oooopsy ;-) .

done! but do you really think there are german/swiss translator’s out there just looking for typo’s? ;) sarah

Maybe not, but then it’s me who inspired the saying “just my luck!” :-)
i think it is possible that we co-authored that saying. ;) sarah
