Things Change

Things change
and you don’t
know it
at first…

Until you try
to keep going
and then
you see there
is nowhere you
are going toward
Yep that ship
sailed
out of the slip
on the bay
waving like a
wilted hankie at noon
the party goes on
without you

A fact of life
that things
change
It’s good
it’s bad
its…different
it’s them but
not you
You’re it then
you’re not
and things
change…
so fast
so much
so little
so slowly
so everyday
in every way
Yep,
they do.

    yeah me too
and for me the words kind of zig zagged a pattern in my mind
reiterating the way things can change suddenly or slowly like you said over time, the only certainty is that they will change. nice. kim

yes, that does seem to be the certainy - change.

Changes make things…interesting. I think the trick is to move back and see them from a distance before acting on sudden emotions, but I guess I am asking for too much.

i agree, that is the trick. though, i think this piece was the result of the change i didn’t see coming. it was a sudden clarity for me. you certainly can’t stop it, but it can still surprise you, no matter how much you know it is coming.

things change unless you aren’t moving and time is standing still so if that happens you’ve discovers a spatial anomaly and could well get a Nobel Prize
    ya know
once you get out that is

:) despite the temptation of receiving a Nobel Prize, i think i’d rather learn to accept change.

Ok, so just to set the record straight, I really like this poem. It’s one of those that almost rings too true.
    Keep writing dear friend. SP

no need to set the record straight but thank you. btw, somehow my response to your email went to my friend evyl. i have absolutely no explanation for it either. short circuits of the universe i suppose. ;)
are you feeling better (i hope)?

Yet another great artistic image accompanying your truthful poem. I may have made this comment before, but you really must start putting captions under the images. I was thinking how much things change while on vacation the other week, yet how some things (like the cadence of a particular friendship/relationship) never change.

    hi david,
nice to see you again. the picture is called ‘memoires’ - as i may have told you before, i often go on picture hunts and then save them to an image account and use them when a matching post comes up.

lol - yes some things change constantly, while others seem always to stay the same. :) sarah
