I know you love me
but you don’t like me
You’ve got plans
and getting me in
is a squeeze

I’ll give you credit
for trying
doing your duty
pretending

We’re strung together
through shared DNA
not the love
of closeknit spirits

A mishap
of mutual genes
a mish-mosh
of family ties

I know you love me
because you have to
but I wish
you knew me because
we were friends.

Summer steam rises

trickles slow down sun-kissed skin

sticky sweet season

I disappear into myself
Like vapor coming off mourning lawns
Like ideas too agile to grasp
Like the fragrance of passing roses

Invisible into my soul
Chattering teeth and cowardly songs
Into my head with hostile voices
Fertile soil decays the surplus flesh

Escaped again to anonimity
Blend of face and blur among the crowd
Maws for mouths, ebony for eyes
Inspiration surrendered, I’m safe

Mind twitters and twitches but dies
Imagination cannot ignite
Stillness envelopes my darkness
I disappear into myself.
