My Ocean

Posted at 3:39 pm under Creative Writing, Dreams, Poetry, my heart

The eyes of the spider
blinked
orange and angry

The sun in his heart
thumped
blue and hungry.

The dream in my ocean
drowned
still and strangled

Even when we think and feel that dreams have died, they often have a way of hibernating and suddenly coming to life again when the time is right.

I love the mood in this ~ all the emotions it brings out.

    I like the suggested story.
    The images behind the images.

    hi ben,
how cool that you are in there with me on this - there are many images behind the images (at least in my world).

I like it when people think up stuff that I would never think up! One of these days I’m going to spend some time just trying to think up something that nobody else would ever think up. I think I’m afraid to do so. :)
    hi lolly,
i highly recommend trying things that you’re afraid of - it can often be a thrilling experience. i’ve seen writing exercises that suggest you write from another person’s viewpoint - perhaps you could try that. a poem from the viewpoint of your cat or aunt sally?

Does reality steal us from our dreams? Or do our dreams steal us from reality? The implications can fill a book. Wonderful thought crystallization here.

    hi tom,
i think that our dreams make our reality. at least i think that’s the way it should work.

Nice mixing of non traditional descriptions with iconic objects (i.e. imaging the Sun as blue). Brief but powerful…well done.

    hi david,
thank you for your nice comments. how is the book doing?
