Father’s Day 14

Dear Dad,
Still here, missing you.
How are things
going up there?
I wonder sometimes,
what it’s like where you are.
Do they have boats
in the harbour that you
can watch and dream upon?
A nice, warm place
for you to nap in?
Baseball? Camel cigarettes
and black coffee?
Bowling and Budweiser?
Perhaps a camera shop -
what do you think
of those new-fangled
digital numbers?
And Photoshop?
Are you playing Johnny Cash
on your iPod?
I’m still here, missing you
growing tomatoes,
reveling in summer days
looking forward to the
4th of July
watching the moon and
asking it to send you
my love.

He comes through your words.
Missing Dads is rough business, remembering them bittersweet.
He sounds like a cool person.
it really is a tough business, christine - but better the memories than nothing, I think.

you’re so sweet, simonne - kindred spirits connect, don’t they?
