Death Entered

Posted at 12:03 am under Faith, Poetry, my heart, original fiction, time in a bottle

There was a moment
just before it
all fell to shit
life teemed with
possibility
perhaps promise

And I stood to
shake its hand
I smiled to
welcome it
Then the crash
came down

And my former life
would never be
recognized
Death entered
and stood laughing
throwing back
its hood and exposing
Itself
the angels were in
short supply

And I never knew
I would wish
to give my life
so another would not
have to
And I said
please God, take me

I liked this a lot. Moody and ominous.
