Love Letter

Posted at 3:21 pm under Faith, Life, Love, Poetry, original fiction, time in a bottle

Love letter written
on a
public wall
for Whom is it
intended?
Any Joe or Mary
who stumbles by
takes a read
traces the words
with their fingertips
then tucks them
in a back pocket?

Perhaps the words
wait for someone special
who will know
on the reading
the message is meant
for they alone
who sees the clues
hidden between the metaphor
and simile
Secret echoes which only
vibrate in their ears?

Splashed bright red
and deep black against
the concrete of the alley
where others have
left
their own scriggles and
urban artwork
which doesn’t obscure
the original
story - rather it
somehow enhances
the beautiful sadness
that weeps there
on the wall for
the world to see
but only one
who understands?

I love Love letters. I’ve read this three time now wanting to pick a line to give you for you from you which touched me.

I can’t. I can’t just pick one line so I have chosen this.

Thankyou for you words Sarah written from a tender heart.

I love the colors you painted here.
Wonderful line “it weeps there on the wall”.

kim you are so often right on the nose in your comments - i always appreciate your ability to look beneath the surface. thank you.
