Adrift

Where is the man who loves me? she asked

Please, just lie down
next
to me
and help me
to sleep

Curl in
to me
and help me
feel safe

Sing me a
poem
and send me
adrift

Wrap my curls
around
your fingers
to tether me
there

Whisper my
name
so I know
that you’re watching

That is All

I am so tired
weary to the marrow
exhausted to the teeth

You neither make my pain
nor own it
for it belongs to me
alone
exquisite perhaps
but I see no beauty
there

Trapped in the moment
frozen like a dacquiri
meant to refresh?
I think not
waiting for release?
I hope so

My joy is in
my joy
my pain gives it
meaning
that
is
all

Quiet

My mind has
found
the quiet
and it languishes
there
wanting to steep itself
in deep waters
be set free
to float

The sea shell tells
a story
if you listen enough
the sky sings a
song
meant only for you
the truth hovers
closely
if you let it

Death Entered

There was a moment
just before it
all fell to shit
life teemed with
possibility
perhaps promise

And I stood to
shake its hand
I smiled to
welcome it
Then the crash
came down

And my former life
would never be
recognized
Death entered
and stood laughing
throwing back
its hood and exposing
Itself
the angels were in
short supply

And I never knew
I would wish
to give my life
so another would not
have to
And I said
please God, take me

Twitter, Tipple, Tease

Mind twitters,
tipples,
teases,
topples
Late moon rises,
reaches,
rouses,
roars
Head hurts,
howls,
haunts,
hovers
Typical Tuesday

Talking to Myself

And I wonder
why you think you’re
unworthy of love
True and deep
real and abiding
With a soul such
as yours
who could not help
but
love you?

No one can make
a guarantee
but they can promise
to try
and give everything they have
to that promise
hope that it goes
to the best of them
not the worst of them
and even if it went to the dogs
they would have
tried anyway
Wouldn’t they?

And the universe is
so much larger than any of
uS
yet infinitely smaller
in understanding
and
care
For the universe does not
care if you feel love
but
I do

Rage

Rage.
Pure
rage.
It kicked
at the back
of my head
like a purple explosion
of venom
and i drank down
another cigarette
and inhaled a tumbler
of coffee
then took a hammer to
my splitting head
But there was
a flower
on my table that is
so beautiful
I wanted to
look at it and
breathe her
in
Except the clothes
of another
have been hung
on me
and they suffocate
anihilate
confiscate
Me
I would rather
be naked
and seen in
all my chubby
embarrassment
and truth.
