i carry your heart with me - e.e. cummings
(I do not typically post others’ work here, but today I was reading and came across, this, one of my most favorite poems and I just had to post it. To share it. I hope you love it as I do. Sarah)
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

I have always liked ee cummings but I have always wondered if the caps in his typewriter were broke and that is why he wrote in all small letters.
i’ve never seen this written anywhere, but i suspect it was something on the order of humilty - a small voice speaking to the large and wonderous things in the universe - or perhaps as is often the case with writers, they choose to make the words more important than the rules of writing them. it’s a thought.

Its just so true isin’t. Not over populated with words and meanings - I quess it never broke the rule.
Beautiful poem and I love the picture, I love the love heart surrounded with pink love.

Am so glad to read this poem here,:-). One of the reasons why I love poetry. The kinds like what e.e. Cummings wrote. It represents the kind of unconventionality that makes this art - poetry, that is, to be so captivating. Cheers!:-)
i agree wholeheartedly - he is/was one of the best poets to have ever written. i have loved him since i was a schoolgirl - amazing - just amazing.
