I’ve wandered the way
taken the steps
collected the things
that make a life
And never found home
I’ve sung my own song
danced with the moon
journeyed my lessons
and learned of the light
And never found home
I’ve met my own mind
in the quiet hours
followed my heart
toward the big and the small
And never found home
But the road made a turn
that led me to you
(my darling)
time stepped aside
(for us)
fate made an entrance
(at last)
And now I am home
(you are my home)

It’s hard to write when
you’re happy
The words insist
on laughing
The prose jumps
and winks
the meter sings
its own song
and things are too
sweet to chase after
them
The sky is too blue
(like your eyes)
the sun too bright
(like your eyes)
for inking thoughts
for stringing images
and shaping metaphor
Time doesn’t matter
details don’t care
The ether is clear
the road is open
the hills roll forward
and the path
leads us home
at last

Give your troubles to me
my friend
let me tend them
for a while
Close your eyes
Set your mind to roam free
my friend
let it wander the stars
and dance the skies
Rest your head on my shoulder
my friend
that is what it is for
The worries can wait
there behind the door
Give your troubles to me
my friend
because I’m stronger
than you, today
let them go far, far away
