Cold, really cold
geese touch down
ground for the winter
cluster in parks and fields
The sky hovers between
grey and icy blue
The sun hurries
across the sky
giving way to an
arctic yellow moon
that smiles and shivers
and fogs a nightly halo
For the first time
in years….
I need a hat

If the sky were
always blue
we would never know
the cleansing
of the rain
If the sun always
shone
we would never
know the moon
or the stars
If my heart had
never broken
you would not
have come
to mend it
