The Old Days

The old days are gone
and maybe that’s good
We can all walk away
find new compass
plot new course
learn new country
conquer new life

Leave the suitcase
of Hurt
at the curb
for someone who
needs the wounds

Create new recipes
for daily woes
let the water run
find a new level
learn to float again
and discover
that Life goes on

    Leave the suitcase
    of Hurt
    at the curb
    for someone who
    needs the wounds

I really like this poem, Sarah. It has depth, darkness and hope all mixed in together. Love you, Sharie

you know it’s funny, i don’t really see the darkness here - to me, it’s just saying what is. you know what i mean?

Moving on, continuity, the spirit of the explorer in us, I love it when I’m reminded that life is never static, always flowing, discovering, traveling, evolving. Wonderfully said, Sarah! :) And it sounds so easy here, I’m so encouraged to look forward to more bliss in life!

    hi tom,
always lovely to see you. maybe it really is easy - maybe that’s the secret to moving on, you know? just putting one foot in front of the other, yes?

Hello Dear. I read your poem again … and again. I don’t see the darkness any more. I just see a kind of acceptance that the past is over and it’s time to move on. “Leave the suitcase of hurt at the curb” is a lovely line. Allowing the water to find a new level and learning to float feels like acceptance and allowing life to be what it needs to be. I like that. Love, Sharie

    hello dear,
i know that on the face of things, this one did seem dark - but it seems like now you really got my frame of mind on the second read through. it is acceptance, not regret or worry or fear. it’s a new one for me but i find i like it. i find it brings me a bit of peace.

    love
    sarah
