I want my quiet back
and the injustice of the
unvarnished truth
Where lies cannot
flourish
and schemes do not
survive
Where love is not
betrayal
and time is not
my master
I want my quiet back
and the starkness
of what is
of now
of tomorrow
Where regret does not
live
doubt is not
welcome
and life is
an open door

If the sky were
always blue
we would never know
the cleansing
of the rain
If the sun always
shone
we would never
know the moon
or the stars
If my heart had
never broken
you would not
have come
to mend it

Heart
(within)
Heart
love eternal
has led you
Here
in faith, joy and
cherished consent
of the
Music
that sprung from
your
Souls
and took wing
in the night
to hear the
whisper of
Stars
the laughter of
Planets
and know the
embrace of the
Moon
your dance of
Forever
and ever more
leaves its steps
in the
Sky
which envies your
Flight
for Mel & Steve,
with love & best wishes

(I do not typically post others’ work here, but today I was reading and came across, this, one of my most favorite poems and I just had to post it. To share it. I hope you love it as I do. Sarah)
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Misery
adores
company and
howls at the
Sun
do not
put
down your
Pen
for it will not
stop
the yearning
nor deny the
ache of
Light
that needs its
Passion

I was, I am
and that
never changed
but I did
I leapt and I spun
but the new shoes
never quite fit
Bare feet are best
A floppy hat
and garden gloves
teach me more
than my recent travels
and books of foreign text
Beer is better than
martinis
no fruit, thank you
A tattered map
leads me home
The ocean is
my compass to peace
No voice
changes
That

Love letter written
on a
public wall
for Whom is it
intended?
Any Joe or Mary
who stumbles by
takes a read
traces the words
with their fingertips
then tucks them
in a back pocket?
Perhaps the words
wait for someone special
who will know
on the reading
the message is meant
for they alone
who sees the clues
hidden between the metaphor
and simile
Secret echoes which only
vibrate in their ears?
Splashed bright red
and deep black against
the concrete of the alley
where others have
left
their own scriggles and
urban artwork
which doesn’t obscure
the original
story - rather it
somehow enhances
the beautiful sadness
that weeps there
on the wall for
the world to see
but only one
who understands?

There is a light here
that shines from the moon
and sends me gentle
to sleep
There is a song here
that comes from the ocean
and guides me safely
to truth
There are colors here
that come from the sun
and sends me quiet
to my place
There is a whisper here
that comes from your tears
and embraces me eternal
to life
I am not gone
I am just waiting
Until
we meet
again
(for my dear friend, Kim. love, sarah)

Where is the man who loves me? she asked
Please, just lie down
next
to me
and help me
to sleep
Curl in
to me
and help me
feel safe
Sing me a
poem
and send me
adrift
Wrap my curls
around
your fingers
to tether me
there
Whisper my
name
so I know
that you’re watching
