I’ve wandered the way
taken the steps
collected the things
that make a life
And never found home
I’ve sung my own song
danced with the moon
journeyed my lessons
and learned of the light
And never found home
I’ve met my own mind
in the quiet hours
followed my heart
toward the big and the small
And never found home
But the road made a turn
that led me to you
(my darling)
time stepped aside
(for us)
fate made an entrance
(at last)
And now I am home
(you are my home)

It’s hard to write when
you’re happy
The words insist
on laughing
The prose jumps
and winks
the meter sings
its own song
and things are too
sweet to chase after
them
The sky is too blue
(like your eyes)
the sun too bright
(like your eyes)
for inking thoughts
for stringing images
and shaping metaphor
Time doesn’t matter
details don’t care
The ether is clear
the road is open
the hills roll forward
and the path
leads us home
at last

Old trees and mountains
wise and timeless
Pick up trucks and road trips
of dusty meanderings
The magic light that
paints the image
Evening rains that sing
me to sleep
Morning sun that lifts
me from dreams
Railroad tracks and roadmaps
treasures that hide in the woods,
waiting
The sky from your eyes
the quiet you give
the breeze that knows
your name

The missing piece to
the puzzle
The words I needed
to complete the thought
The sunshine that was
just behind the clouds
The photograph I
never framed but always
Kept
The rose petals that
lead to my door

if freedom were a wing that i could climb upon
a feathered fearless sanctuary that could
carry my soul forward
lean my eyes toward dawn
I would fly as one sparkle
across a slated sky
I would float as I was meant to
I would see

The doorbell rings
and I find
scattered
rose
petals
scribbled with words.

Heart
(within)
Heart
love eternal
has led you
Here
in faith, joy and
cherished consent
of the
Music
that sprung from
your
Souls
and took wing
in the night
to hear the
whisper of
Stars
the laughter of
Planets
and know the
embrace of the
Moon
your dance of
Forever
and ever more
leaves its steps
in the
Sky
which envies your
Flight

I feel myself falling
off a great cliff
over the stars
and past the moon
‘don’t fly - just float’
‘don’t flap wings - spread them’
I close my eyes
and give in to the clouds
let out fear’s breath
and taste the sun
dance with the rain
and sing my descent in
happy tunes
skirts and petticoats
ass over teacup
morning kisses me
hello and goodbye
sunset waves a mad tophat
time cannot catch me
I feel myself falling.
