Scary or Sweet?

Not long ago, my buddy Evyl did a really fun post that linked to a quiz which would tell you just how scary you are. Sadly, I discovered I was not scary at all. In fact, it said I was sweet. (boring!) But of course Evyl scored very high on the scary meter (lucky bastard). We got to talking and we thought we’d do our own little test of sorts.

Word association. He came up with a list and I came up with a list. You can see Evyl’s list with my word association and his and below is mine. Remember, I’m sweet and he’s scary. LOL.

Court
Sarah says: Woo me like no other.
Evyl says: The stuffy building where the judge bangs the gavel and says ‘ One more outburst and I will gag you like transvestite bondage queen.’

Line
Sarah says: Dialogue at its best.
Evyl says: What you use to pick up loose women at a seedy bar. Such as ‘Do you have a mirror in your panties because I can see myself in them.’

Paisley
Sarah says: Pattern that is thankfully no longer fashionable.
Evyl says: Isn’t that the pattern you get with Dollar Store Boxer Shorts?

Revile
Sarah says: Hatred from my deepest darkest places.
Evyl says: The emotion shared by all my ex-girlfriends.

Body
Sarah says: The home in which our spirits live.
Evyl says: A good quality to have in beer and women. Too thin and you have lite beer and bony chicks but a good full body and you have Guiness and one hell of a woman.

So, are you sweet or scary? It’s a fun question to ponder.

Time Well Spent

You may have noticed that I have a rather limited blogroll - it’s true, I have. It is intentional on my part - though there are many blogs I visit in my travels and many I truly enjoy - for this blog I wanted to keep the blogroll small and limited to writers who write from the heart. Each and every one of these wonderful writers brings something unique to the table and I respect and admire their ability to communicate. Because writing really is about communication and the essence of same.

So let me introduce them to you, please.

Spasmically Perfect, spaz for short, has a truly unique view of the world and paints that view beautifully with her poetry and astute observations of the human condition. Her power is in her quiet approach and diligent probe of life as she sees it.

Mark of Chronicles of Mark has a wry sense of humor and his haikus are exquisette microcosms of life.

Jennifer of Welcome to my Shoe writes with an open and honest heart and I dare you to read her work and leave unchanged - it is impossible. I promise.

Flight Pattern writes with the beauty of broken glass, sharp, yet sparkling. Honest and sometimes difficult to read because of that brutal realness she brings.

David at davidbdale writes 300 word novels that will pull you into a world that is a combination of Thurber, John Irving and Mr. Rogers.

Natural High at Living Life Fully, writes precisely of just that - living your life fully. She sees and writes with technocolor, crystal clarity of the wonder of life and if you’re ever in need of a shot in the psyche, pay her a visit for she will surely give it to you.

Alison at Tears in the Rain is naked in the vulnerability of her work. No holds barred, no feeling hidden or unfelt. A pleasure to read and a truly beautiful soul to know.

Kelly at No Regrets is alive and vibrant and better than a cup of extra shot espresso - you never know what she’ll come up with but she will happily have you tagging along in her adventures, writing them as they happen. Like a big bright smile that warms and delights.

A-Mum at Nanny’s Nook is just simply a kick in the pants. She writes anything and everything that comes into her mind - always says what she thinks and will likely have you on the floor laughing before you know what has hit you.

Evyl at From Evyl with Love is bawdy, funny, visceral, enigmatic, charming, scary and brutally frank. You will never be the same after visiting him and you’d not want to be either.

And finally, Michael at Smoke and Mirrors - he is everything that is in your heart - everything you feel and wish you could say and the soul you wish you could be. And his writing will change you, deeply, and in ways you never imagined.

Please, if you haven’t, do visit all of these amazing writers. If you do, I know you will come to love them just as I have.

Much Love,

Sarah

Writer at Work

Hello. I hope you enjoyed your holiday and it was what you wanted it to be.

I have a few new stories I will be working on over the next few days - so I will be a little bit scarce. I promise not to be gone long and hopefully when I return, they’ll be something new for you to read and enjoy.

In the meantime, be well, stay safe and count your blessings - they are all around you.

Much love,

sarah

Dear Readers…

Dear Readers,

First, I would like to thank all of you for visiting and reading my humble blog. I value each and every one of you. The fact that there are people out there who read and enjoy the things I write is a source of immense joy to me. And I thank you for that gift.

Later today, I will be posting a Christmas story. It has a long and personal history for me and truth be told, it is, of all the stories I have written, my favorite.

It is rather long and I considered posting it in installments over the next several days because of that. However, I have decided to post it in its entirety today. For those interested in reading it, you may find you have to come back a few times to read the entire story - or you may find you want to read it all at once. (Secretly, I hope you do).

I hope you do enjoy it. Have a very Merry Christmas and I hope that all your Christmas wishes do come true.

Much love,

sarah

Sarah’s Christmas Rant

No more Christmas crisis
no more Christmas crap
I feel my head exploding
so many gifts to wrap

No more petty fighting
no more whines or groans
the only sounds I’m wanting
is lovely Christmas tones

I know your cheer is dying
and your job is on the edge
but if you don’t stop your crying
I’ll push you off the ledge

So stuff your face with cookies
and give us all a break
wear your god damned Santa Hat
or your ass I’ll bake

Yell ho, ho, ho and hee, hee, hee
and make another smile
cuz if I throw you out of the car
you’ll have to walk for miles

You have all year to be a bitch
and make us roll our eyes
so suck it up and knock it off
and tell some Christmas lies

Peace on Earth, Goodwill to men
Is what I want from you
And if you give me what I want
I may not even sue!

Merry Christmas!

Sarah Speaks

Well as many of you may know already, the last poem of the series has been posted. From Vision to Hero. I just wanted to say thanks very much to all of those who read and commented.

It was a special pleasure for me to share these poems with you, written so long ago and a piece out of my past. In fact, I wanted to say what joy I have derived from having this blog and being able to share my stories with you.

It was an experiment for me. I have been writing a long time and have accumulated a relatively large body of work. A body of work I had convinced myself no one would be interested in reading. How happy I am to have been wrong on that point. You have no idea how much it means to me that people actually come here to read my stories and poems.

So, I just wanted to say I am thankful for the gift of your readership. I am thankful for a forum to place my fiction. I am thankful that reading is still a pleasure alive and well.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving. And I hope I will see you afterwards.

sarah
